Media Tafels
Media Tafel 1 - Facebook
This assignment was to come up with some ideas to keep Facebook interesting for teenagers.
The first solution for that problem that came to mind was to keep the commercials limited (or to delete them completely). The thing I personally experience is that those ads pop up at the most inconvenient times, like for example: when I'm about to click on someones post to comment. It takes you to the page of the advertiser and it's just very annoying.
The second thing that came to mind is to keep the amount of posts you can see on your timeline limited. Facebook is now programmed to show you the most popular posts first, but a lot of people don't like that at all. People made a Facebook page to share stories and photo's with their friends. But because of the face that it's not in chronological order it's not very interesting anymore. What's the point of liking photo's of a few weeks ago if you have seen your friend in the meantime and he or she has shown them in person? So: bring the chronological order of posts back.
Another option is to limit the games you can play? Facebook has kind of become some sort of game site. Everyone is just playing these games and is sending everyone requests. It's just really annoying, so if you keep the amount of games limited it will get a lot less annoying and more people will enjoy Facebook.
Media tafel 4 - Kokos Cola
This assignment was about Coca Cola. They came up with a new summer drink: Kokos Cola. Now it's our job to think of ways to promote the drink using different media.
There are a lot of different ways to approach the media and present your product. But it's hard to convince people to buy your product because there are so many promotional video's. Everyone gets to see them everywhere, so it's my job to come up with something that seeks the attention of people.
The first thing that pops into my mind is to make a promotional video and stream it on youtube and television. In that way people get to know the product and are familiar with the brand.
Furthermore you can design some posters and hand some flyers out to people.
Another idea is to hand out some samples, like small can's of Kokos Cola. Other brands do it all the time, I've seen such thing at Rotterdam Centraal last week and it got a lot of attention.
Maybe it is an option to approach some stores that sell the product and hand out small samples there.
When there's free stuff, people will accept it.
